Donna Summer - Rumor Has It (1977)
From the 1977 Casablanca album, "Once Upon A Time..."
March 4, 1978 - 43 Years Ago Today: Donna Summer debuted at No. 83 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her single, "Rumour Has It." It was written by Summer, Pete Bellotte and Giorgio Moroder and was the second charted single released from her first of four consecutive double albums, "Once Upon A Time." "Rumour Has It" followed the No. 37 peak of "I Love You." "Rumour Has It," was Summer's ninth Hot 100 single and peaked at No. 53 on April 15, 1978. However, the entire album "Once Upon A Time" (all cuts) had previously enjoyed a five-week run at No. 1 beginning December 17, 1977 on the National Disco Action Top 40 which is now referred to as the Billboard Dance Songs Chart. Three weeks following the peak of "Rumour Has It," Donna's mainstream pop breakthrough hit, "Last Dance," was released and the hits just kept on coming from that moment forward even though she had already scored two Top Tens previously with her debut, 1975's "Love To Love You Baby," which peaked at No. 2 in 1976 and 1977's "I Feel Love," which peaked at No. 6. Donna Summer was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. Please click the following link to view the accompanying video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1biWrMiAvE
