Brenda Mitchell: Body Party [Full Album + Bonus] (1978)

DISCO SUSPENSE & MURDER Part 2:

BRENDA MITCHELL - DON'T YOU KNOW 1978 feat. The Sweethearts Of Sigma
By Soren Jensen:
Following on my previous post, here is the second album recorded by Tunesian-French singer Chantal Sitruk.
Her first album ended up being released credited to Michele and promoted by a black model, due to Chantal herself serving time in prison. With that album being a big disco smash in the US, her producer Pierre Jaubert recorded a second album on Chantal in 1978 (presumably she was out of jail by then). While the basic rhythm tracks were recorded in Paris, the tapes were sent to Philadelphia where once again The Sweethearts Of Sigma laid down the backing vocals.
The album was mixed by John Custer and the single Body Party featured uncredited synth work by Patrick Cowley who would soon achieve fame with his work on Sylvester's You Make Me Feel Mighty Real before his untimely death of AIDS in 1982.
For whatever reason Chantal was not credited on this record either, but a black singer Brenda Mitchell was employed. Curiously, Mitchell appears to be singing herself on a rare white label called Disco Dancer (written by Jack Robinson & James Bolden) which eventually was recorded with disco group Frantique of Strutt Your Funky Stuff fame. A Canadian only 12" single Sweet Music was released in 1979 of which I only have the B-side Earthern Paradise which appears to not be sung by Chantal.
Chantal finally was credited in her own name on her 3rd collaboration with Pierre Jaubert in 1979, the album Get Another Love, on which Brenda is credited for singing backing vocals!
Chantal was shot dead in Jerusalem 1985.
